KofKaN SolarMonitor
Solar energy monitoring & telemetry system
Overview
A solar installation is only as good as the information the owner has about it. SolarMonitor is our telemetry concept for PV systems: measurement on the array, battery bank and load side, combined into a single view of generation, storage state and consumption. It is designed for installations where the owner is not on site daily — rural facilities, telecom sites, schools and commercial rooftops — and where an unnoticed inverter fault quietly costs weeks of generation.
System capabilities
PV array telemetry
String voltage and current sampled to show actual generation against expected yield.
Battery visibility
Pack voltage, charge and discharge current and estimated state of charge for the storage bank.
Inverter integration
Where the inverter exposes Modbus, its status and fault codes are read directly rather than inferred.
Load monitoring
Consumption measured alongside generation so shortfalls can be attributed correctly.
Fault notification
Loss of generation, inverter faults and abnormal battery behaviour raise alerts to the site owner.
Remote sites
Cellular backhaul and low standby draw suit installations with no fixed internet connection.
How it works
- 01Sensors measure PV, battery and load circuits
- 02Controller reads inverter registers over RS485 where available
- 03Readings are aggregated and buffered on the device
- 04Telemetry uploads over Wi-Fi or cellular
- 05Dashboard shows generation, storage and fault history
Applications
- Solar installations
- Telecom infrastructure
- Rural facilities and schools
- Commercial rooftops
- Energy management programmes
